Chartered Banker Institute – Event Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions refer only to events organised by the Chartered Banker Institute. They should be read in conjunction with our main terms and conditions.

1. Availability

All event bookings are 'subject to availability' and we cannot guarantee you a place on any event.

2. Third party events

The Institute may, from time to time, promote events organised by partners and selected third parties. Where bookings take you away from the Institute website please refer to the booking terms and conditions of the relevant organisation.

3. Confirmation

We will endeavour to send an email to the main booking contact confirming the place on the event within 48 hours of your booking being received by us. If you have not received an email confirmation within this time please contact us.

Please note we will not be able process the booking without being provided with a valid email address for the booker and/or lead delegate and any respective guests or additional delegates.

Final confirmation for events will be sent one week prior to the event, and the day before, detailing the timetable and venue directions. Additional briefing notes or confirmations may be issued where required.

4. Changes and cancellations

Our events programme is kept under review and we reserve the right to amend the content timing and cost of the programme as necessary. Delegates will be informed in writing of any such changes and full refund of any fees will be payable if required.

If the Institute has to cancel the event, our liability is limited to a full refund of any event fee only.
We will not refund any travel or hotel costs associated with the cancellation of an event.

Where attendance fees apply, the charge for cancelling your booking is:

  • 28 days or more before the event – Full refund payable
  • Less than 28 days before the event - No refund (transfer to another individual only

5. Force Majeur

We reserve the right to cancel, suspend or vary the operation of our obligations to you if events occur which are in the nature of force majeure including (but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing) fire, flood, storms, plant breakdown, strikes, lock outs, riot, hostilities, non-availability of material or suppliers or any other event outside our control; and we shall not be held liable for any breach of contract or in tort including delict resulting from such an event.

6. Transfer

If you cannot attend an event, you can transfer your place to another individual. Transfer of places for invitation-only events may be transferred at the sole discretion of the Institute. Places can be transferred at any time up to and including the day of the event. Please note an additional charge may be applicable if the new attendee is not entitled to the same rate.

7. Travel

The Institute accepts no liability if a delegate is unable to attend an event due to adverse weather conditions or any travel disruption.

8. Special requirements

If you have any access requirements or any additional needs, including food allergies, that will require assistance, please inform us of this at the point of booking or when requested in follow-up correspondence.

Any requests must be made to us at least two weeks before the event to ensure we are able to meet your requirements in full.

By booking an event place you agree to your name, company name and job title (where known), together with details of specific requirements being shared with the venue, host organisation or specialist supplier to ensure that we are able to meet your requirements. Your details will only be shared with the organisations necessary to meet your requirements.

9. Filming and sound recording

The Institute reserves the right to film, record or photograph any event. Members of the audience should be aware that they may be included in the images or sound recordings and reproduced accordingly for Institute use.

10. Delegate list

By booking an event place you agree to your name, company name and job title (where known) being shared with the venue and/or host organisation if required for security purposes. You also agree to share your details with other attendees and carefully selected partners and sponsors of the event. Your contact details (email, address and phone number) will NOT be shared. If you do not wish your name and company name to be shared with other attendees, partners or sponsors please contact the marketing & events team at [email protected]

11. Delegate feedback

Following the event, delegates should expect to receive an email asking them to complete a feedback form online. We request that this is completed and submitted within seven days to allow the Institute to improve and develop future events more closely to your requirements.

12. Data protection

We will treat any personal information collected at the point of booking in accordance with data protection legislation. For more information about our data protection policy please go to our privacy statement.

For webcasts, it is reauired attendees sign up as a member on BrightTALK, and therefore must opt into their User Agreement and Privacy Policy.

The data collected will be used to create a record if you are not a member or registered contact of the Chartered Banker Institute. We use this data to manage your booking, including related correspondence and additional requirements.

Where you supply sensitive personal data, including food allergies or medical conditions, this will be held on your record to allow us to provide the requested support. Data will be held securely in accordance with our data retention policy.
