For Schools

The My Skills and Future project is designed to assist schools in meeting their Curriculum for Excellence (C4E) experiences and outcomes by delivering FREE workshops in financial education and employability skills. Our volunteers and are experts in financial capability, with a large percentage of them still being employed across a wide range of roles within the industry. Our workshops have been designed and reviewed by qualified teachers and are structured to be as interactive and engaging as possible whilst still meeting C4E outcomes.

In 2017/2018 the project delivered 145 workshops in 28 schools across Scotland. Directly supported 28 teachers by delivering financial education and employability skills workshops - in line with the curriculum for excellence - to approximately 4,350 young people.

The workshops we offer are around 30/45 minutes long and are all interactive.

Employability Skills

CV & Job Applications
This workshop aims to teach students how to prepare a winning job application. There are a few simple rules when it comes to preparing a  CV yet research shows that so many people get it wrong!

Interview Skills
The aim of this workshop is to help prepare students for an interview,  for whatever trade, role, profession, college or university place they wish  to go on to. Preparation is key when applying for interviews and students are taught a number of effective techniques on how to best prepare for  an interview.

Financial Education

Managing Your Money
The aim of this workshop is to teach students that having enough money is less to do with how much you earn and more to do with how well you manage it. In addition to the amount that you end up earning; having enough money is affected by how you think about money and how you treat money. The workshop looks at managing your money in terms of being aware of where your money goes, the importance of saving, sensible borrowing and shopping around for the best deals.

Financial Products
This workshop aims to teach students about some of the financial products that they are all likely to encounter soon or in future, if not already. It does not speak about any specific company’s products but, hopefully, will provide them with information to be able to make good financial decisions and know what to look for, and what to avoid, when shopping around for financial products.
