This is a joint event between the Chartered Banker Institute and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Kate Capocci

Kate joined Smith & Williamson in 2015. She is Responsible Investment Lead for Tilney Smith & Williamson and Deputy Fund Manager for the Tilney Sustainable Active Portfolios and Sustainable Managed Portfolio Service, as well as manager for bespoke sustainable investment portfolios.

Kate was a co-founder of the S&W Stewardship & Responsible Investment Group and was a member of the Charities & Corporate Responsibility Committee. She has a key role in the integration of ESG factors into the group investment process and spearheads Tilney Smith & Williamson’s growing capabilities in responsible investment.

George Littlejohn qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in London before becoming a journalist with The Economist, specialising in financial and economic matters. He is now Senior Adviser at the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), having conducted advisory work in financial centres across Europe, the Middle East and Asia over the past two decades. He is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, and the author of a number of works on risk management in finance.

Elisa Moscolin is a sustainability professional with a track record of driving this agenda in global blue-chip organisations. She advises Boards and Executive teams on sustainability strategy and execution. She has worked in the ICT and Financial Services sectors. 

Elisa is currently Executive Vice President for Sustainability at Sage Group plc.; Sage is a global market leader for technology for small and medium businesses and Elisa is leading its sustainability agenda. Prior to that, Elisa was Head of Sustainability & ESG at Santander where she led the transformation from old-fashioned CSR to sustainability. During her time at Santander, Elisa turned around all legacy programmes, worked with the Board and Executive team to agree on the bank’s ESG vision and ambition, designed a new ESG strategy, built a diverse and high-performing team, designed a sound governance and operating model, established an active dialogue with top investors and enhanced the bank’s ESG credentials. Elisa was also responsible for the bank’s Foundation, which she restructured by working closely with its Board of Trustees to enhance its governance, reputation, and impact. Before Santander, Elisa worked for Vodafone Group in global and local roles in Italy, the UK and Kenya. In Kenya she worked with Safaricom, a subsidiary of Vodafone which developed M-Pesa, the iconic mobile-based money transfer and banking platform that has greatly improved financial inclusion in the country. She is an alumni of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and holds a Master’s Degree in International Studies and Diplomacy.

Elisa’s professional ambition is to contribute to shifting the business community toward more ethical and responsible business practices. 

Simon Thompson

Chartered Banker Institute | Chief Executive

 

Simon Thompson was appointed Chief Executive of the Chartered Banker Institute in 2007 after working for a number of international professional bodies and standard-setters.  He is a Fellow of the Institute and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. 

Simon is the author of Green & Sustainable Finance: Principles and Practice, published by Kogan Page (www.koganpage.com/product/principles-and-practice-of-green-finance-9781789664546).  He chairs the UK’s Sustainable Finance Education Charter on behalf of the Department for Net Zero and Energy Security and is a Board member of the UK’s Financial Services Skills Commission (FSSC). Simon is a former Vice President of the European Bank Training Network. 

Simon was awarded Honorary Doctorates by Bangor University (2022) and BPP University (2015) for his contribution to banking, business and education.
