Supporting young professionals entering the industry

Emma Holt is a Senior Lecturer in Finance and Economics at Manchester Metropolitan University and a Solicitor (non- practising).

After qualifying, Emma practised Law for almost 25 years including 10 years in senior management and leadership roles within the legal services sector.  Emma joined Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019. 

Emma is Programme Leader for Global Online MBA and Global Online MSc in Finance and Strategy. 

Emma co-leads Continuing Professional Development at Level 5 across the degrees of BSc Accounting and Finance and Banking and Finance, a unit focused on employability. Emma is Postgraduate Employability Lead (Finance and Economics).  Emma also leads the Business Law units for the degrees of BSc Accounting and Finance and Banking and Finance.

Amy is an experienced risk professional, having enjoyed a number of second line Risk and Governance roles across Retail, Corporate and Wealth Management businesses, in Financial Services.

As the Senior Risk Manager at Alba Co Ltd (Vying to be Scotland's first new bank in over 250 years), Amy is building out the Bank's Enterprise Risk capabilities and developing their approach to Climate Risk and ESG. Prior to this, Amy was a Vice President at Barclays, managing the second line risk function through the acquisition of Kensington Mortgage Company.

Amy is passionate about her own development and that of others. Whilst pursuing an honours degree at the London Institute of Banking and Finance, she is also empowering the next generation of emerging leaders as the Chair of Scottish Financial Enterprise Young Professionals. Connecting 1000 professionals across the industry, Amy unites the leaders of tomorrow with those of today; to arm them with the confidence, knowledge and skills for effective career progression.

Amy has been recognised for her work in this space, having received the Diversity Equity & Inclusion Role Model of the Year award by Barclays Scotland and having been shortlisted in the Future Leaders category at the Women in Banking & Finance Awards 2023.

Anna is a Principal Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at Manchester Metropolitan University.

She began her career at Deloitte, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and moved into education in 2007, firstly at Kaplan, before joining Manchester Metropolitan in 2013.

Anna specialises in teaching Financial Reporting and Governance. She is the departmental Graduate Outcomes lead, and co-chairs the Faculty Employability Committee. She is also the Faculty Lead for Work Integrated Learning, Placements and Internships.

Alongside this, Anna is a member of the Manchester ICAEW network, with a particular interest in engaging younger members with the ICAEW.

Craig started his career in banking at the age 17 through Tesco Bank’s modern apprenticeship scheme. Craig worked a number of analyst roles at Tesco Bank within customer operations, finacial crime and digital before joining Sainsbury’s Bank in January 2023 as a Product Analyst in Credit Cards Commercial. Craig recently won the 2023 Chartered Banker Institute Young Banker of the Year competition with his proposal to support customers living with dementia. Craig is also a committee member of Scottish Financial Enterprise's Young Professionals network, working in the Changing Customer Needs workstream which looks to empower Scotlands financial services sector to support customers evolving needs.
